San Francisco is world famous for many things, including her Victorian houses. Although Victoria never was monarch of The United States, her long and influential reign did have an impact on styles of homes, and their names, here too. Along the East side of this block, all of the homes, built in the 1870`s, are in the Italianate style, while those along the West, done in the 1880`s, are in the Stick style. With all of the Victorians in this whole city, this is the only part where you can find them on both sides of the block. The other interesting thing about these homes, there is a bit of yard between each of the houses, they are not all shoulder to shoulder with each other, as was more common with them, even at that time. An added selling point, even for that period. As seen 19 December 2022.
