Arashiro Lead The Race For 144 Km, But Was Then Beaten By Pineau And Fouchard In The Last 20 Km. Event: 93rd Giro d'Italia (Tour of Italy) Date and place: Novara – Novi Ligure stage, Mortara, 13th May, 2010 The Giro d'Italia (Tour of Italy), also simply known as The Giro, is a long distance road bicycle racing stage race for professional cyclists held over three weeks in May/early June in and around Italy. It is one of the three Grand Tours, and is part of the UCI World Ranking calendar. The Giro is the second most prominent stage race in the world (after the Tour), and along with the Tour and the Road World Cycling Championship it makes up the Triple Crown of Cycling. The Tour de France, the Giro and the Vuelta a España are the three Grand Tours of the road bicycle racing season. The photos were taken during the first road race in Italy of the 2010 edition (the first three stages of the Giro were held in Amsterdam, the fourth was a Team Time trial): Novara - Novi Ligure, when the corridors were passing through the town of Mortara. Arashiro lead the race for 144 km, but was then beaten by Pineau and Fouchard in the last 20 km.
