Bank Hall, Bretherton, Lancashire. Bank Hall Is A Jacobean Mansion, And A Grade Ii Listed Building. This Hall Was Built In 1608 On An Earlier House Foundation, By The Banastres Family, Who Were Lords Of The Manor, At That Time. It Has Been Used Over The Years For Many Purposes, During The Second World War It Was Used As A Headquarters For The Royal Engineers. After The War The House Was Returned To The Lilford Family, And It Was Occupied Until 1972. It Was Vandalised Over Many Years, After Being Left Empty, But In 1995, An Action Group Was Set Up To Find Funds To Have It Restored. In 1969, Hammer House Of Horror, Made The Feature Film, The Haunted House Of Horror Here. Bank Hall Is Surrounded By Woodland, That Is Heavily Populated With Snowdrops. In Spring Visitors Are Allowed To Walk Round The Woodland, But The Property Is Cordoned Off, Due To Danger Of Collapse.
