The Bohinj Valley is a beautiful, scenic and easy route for hikers and cyclers through rural landscapes in a nice natural environment, that joins the town of Bohinjska Bistrica with the well-known Lake Bohinj, which is the largest permanent lake in Slovenia, located in the southeastern Julian Alps in the Upper Carniola region, and part of the Triglav National Park. The valley is popular for hiking, climbing and biking from spring through fall. Surrounded by alpine mountains, the trail is full of meadows and some farm fields that are filled with wild flowers in spring and green color in summer, and together with some small villages scattered along its way, which runs parallel to the Sava Bohinjka River, it offers the visitors a very pleasant and quiet rural environment. Bohinjska Bistrica, the administrative centre of the Municipality of Bohinj, is a good starting point for exploring the Bohinj Valley and for treks to several summits in the area and the Lake Bohinj.
