Prehistoric landslides from the overhanging mountains cover the plain of the river Sarca, to the north of Dro. This phenomenon has produced a truly unique landscape, similar to a chaotic rocky desert. The landslides were caused by the retreating front of the Quarternary glacier. The boulders and rocks continued to fall for thousands of years, producing catastrophic effects.
