Pictured is a carved granite sphinx sculpture inside the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities in Cairo, Egypt. The sphinx was a mythical creature with the head of a human and the body of a lion. The museum was built in 1901 to a design by French architect Marcel Dourgnon. In 2022, the museum is due to be superseded by the newer and larger Grand Egyptian Museum at Giza.
