City Lights Bookstore, It Started Out As A Magazine, 2. Taking The Title From A Charlie Chaplin Film, City Lights Was Originally Just A Literary Magazine Title, By Peter D. Martin In 1952. One Of The People He Had Published Was Lawrence Ferlinghetti. With In A Year, Martin Had The Name On A Bookstore, America`s First All Paperback Bookstore. In 1953, Ferlinghetti Happened To Meet Martin, And They Go Into The Business Of Publishing And Selling Books Together. Although Martin Left A Couple Of Years Later, Ferlinghetti Is Still A Part Of City Lights, Which Is Now A World Heritage Site.
