Dragon Dollar. The history of US-China trade and economic relations dates back to the 19th century. At the turn of the XIX-XX centuries, the US proclaimed the policy of `open doors`. It assumed the creation and maintenance of at least an outwardly and formally equal position in China of all competitors in the struggle for the Chinese market and for influence in China. Such a policy was connected with the fact that, having no political and international weight like other great powers, the US could not provide for an exclusive sphere of influence in China and therefore advocated `equal opportunities` in order to use its economic resources.
