Depending on where homes are built,and local laws at the time,some homes may go through a great deal of outside appearances changes,and some almost none at all. These two adjacent San Francisco homes look very different now,but did not always. The obvious Italianate style house on the left,built in 1879,was remodeled during the 1890's,with a Chinese theme hand rail on the left side,and the Islamic entrance at the top of the stairs. The house on the right,very plain looking now,did match the 1890's version at the time. As seen 2 August 2023.
