This tiny shorebird is not called Killdeer, Charadrius vociferus, because of anything it does, but for what its call sounds like, somewhat like `keeel deer`.
It does eat, mainly, insects, as well as worms and spiders, sometimes seeds.
Killdeer are one type of plover, a bird group found throughout most of the world, that has a short beak, and uses its sight for hunting, not feeling for anything.
