Lake Khecheopalri In Western Sikkim. Lake Khecheopalri Is Situated In Western Sikkim, About 34 Kms From Pelling. Surrounded By Mountains, It Was Formed Over 3500 Years Ago, By The Scooping Action Of Glaciers Formed In The Depression Of The Valley. Lake Is Fed By Several Streams From The Surrounding Mountains, With One River Flowing Out. The Mountains Are Clothed In Dense, Pristine Forest. Lake Is Sacred To Both Buddhists And Hindus. Buddhists Call It The Mountain Of Blissful Heaven, Fulfilling The Wishes Of Pilgrims. Lake Resembles A Giant Footprint And Is Believed To Be That Of Goddess Tara Jetsun Dolma. The Mountains, Forests And The Serene Lake, With Colorful Prayer Flags Fluttering In The Breeze Provided A Good Picture, Taken During The Month Of March.
