The Bellmunt del Priorat Mine Museum, located in the former industrial complex of the Eugenia Mine, aims to be an interpretation center for lead mining in the region of El Priorat, Catalonia, Spain. Bellmunt del Priorat is the most important mining town in the Priorat region regarding the extraction of mineral, galena, both for its quality and quantity. It has a long mining tradition that, according to some authors, goes back to prehistory and has experienced different periods of activity over time. Its period of splendor occurs between the 1920s and 1960s and is reflected in a very direct way in the increase in the population of the municipality, mainly due to the immigration current, in the establishment of the mining colony and, ultimately, in a way of being and living typical of a mining town.
