Pulaski Square in the middle of Savannah, Georgia. At the intersection of Barnard and West Macon streets, between West Harris and West Charlton streets, you’ll find Pulaski Square, one of the later developed squares which was part of the grid expansion of General Oglethorpe’s city plan. It was designed in 1837 and named after Polish General Casimir Pulaski, an 18th century freedom fighter who was killed during the Siege of Savannah. There is no statue or fountain in this square, but about six blocks southeast, in Monterey Square, there is a monument dedicated to him.
