Species Of The Genus Coleus Have Potential As Medicinal Plants. Species From The Genus Coleus Have Potential As Medicinal Plants Because They Contain Essential Oils And Other Secondary Metabolite Compounds. Metabolite Compounds Used As Medicines Generally Accumulate In Secretory Structures. This Research Aims To Describe The Secretory Structure Of Coleus. Research Was Carried Out On Leaves Of Coleus Amboinicus, Colus Scutellarioides, And Coleus Tuberosus That Had Not Yet Flowered. Observation Of The Type And Distribution Of Secretory Structures Using Fresh Transverse Incisions. The Results Of The Research Show That The Secretory Structures Found In The Coleus Genus That Have The Potential To Produce Essential Oils Are Glandular Trichomes Of Four Types, Namely Capitate, Peltate, Conoidal And Digitiform. Capitate And Digitiform Glandular Trichomes Are Found In All Three Plants Of The Genus Coleus. Pelt Gland Trichomes Are Found In The Plants Coleus Scutellarioides And Coleus Tuberosus. Conoidal Glandular Trichomes Are Found On The Coleus Scutellarioides Plant. The Distribution Of Capitate Gland Trichomes Is Mostly Found On The 1St Node Of The Adaxial And Abaxial Surfaces Of Coleus Amboinicus Leaf Blades. As The Leaf Ages (Nodes 3-5) There Is A Decrease In The Type And Distribution Of Glandular Trichomes.
