Stomata are small pores found primarily on the underside of plant leaves, although they can also occur on other aerial parts of the plant such as stems. They play a crucial role in gas exchange, allowing plants to take in carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere for photosynthesis and release oxygen (O2) produced during photosynthesis.
