Koelreuteria paniculata Laxm., also known as Koelreuteria or Lantern Tree, is a deciduous tree or shrub of the genus Koelreuteria in the Sapindaceae family. The bark is thick, gray brown to gray black, and when old, it cracks longitudinally. The leaf clusters grow on the branches of the current year, with one, incomplete two or occasionally two pinnate compound leaves, opposite or alternate. Cymose panicle The flowers are light yellow with 4 petals. Capsule conical, with 3 edges. 1 seed per chamber, black, nearly spherical. The flowering period is from June to August, and the fruiting period is from September to October.
