The stem of Alpinia officinale is relatively thin, with fuzz on top, oval shaped, and dark green in color The leaves are small, polygonal, green, and have a fuzzy surface The flowers are small, umbrella shaped, light yellow or white The fruit is spherical, red to purplish red in color The seeds are small, black brown, and have a harder epidermis The flowering period is from April to September The fruiting period is from May to November.
