The Monument of the 13 Martyred Generals in Arad. The monument symbolically marks the place where the 13 Hungarian army officers were killed in the war of 1848, considered the war of liberation from the Habsburg Empire. In 1974, on the occasion of the commemoration of the 125th anniversary of the tragic event, the earthly remains of the 11 generals buried in Arad were placed in the pedestal. The monument of the 13 generals is located south of the fortress of Arad in the Subcetate area.
