The orange (English: orange) is the fruit of the citrus species in the family Rutaceae, referred to as Citrus × sinensis,[1] which is also called the sweet orange, to distinguish it from the related Citrus × aurantium, which is called the bitter orange. The sweet orange reproduces asexually (apomixis via nucellar embryony), and sweet orange varieties arise by mutation.
