The Three-Eyed Lizard Is A Genus Of Malagasy Terrestrial Iguana. Its Only Species Is Chalarodon Madagascariensis. Its Malagasy Relatives Are The Iguanas Of The Genus Oplurus. They Are Known For Their Curious Feature: A Third Eye On The Top Of Their Head. Although This Eye Does Not Function As A Regular Eye, It Can Detect Light, Being Similar To A Stigma Of, Say, A Euglena. It Is Common In Some Of The Drier Areas Of Madagascar.
