The Villa de Maderuelo, like its neighbor Ayllón, is a Historical-Artistic Complex to which we must add a magnificent natural environment. It is located on a large hill, surrounded by the Linares reservoir. It is the beginning of the Hoces del Río Riaza. In the 10th century the town was repopulated by the Castilian count Fernán González and later sacked by the armies of Almanzor. A century later, building a wall and castle, Castro Maderolum was created, with people from Burgos. Already in the 12th century it was annexed to the bishopric of Segovia.
