Veveří is a castle in the west of the Bystrc district of Brno, about 12 kilometers northwest of the center of Brno on a rocky promontory above the Brno dam, which is fed by the Svratka River. It is one of the largest and oldest castle grounds not only in Moravia, but also in the whole Czech Republic. Aside from the castle, on the access road to the western entrance gate, there is a chapel of the Mother of God from the end of the 12th century.
